If you are over 40 yoa look for Masters track meets. Go to the USATF website and you can link to the masters meets schedules. Seems like there should be some in your area.
A couple of years ago I ran the 5K in the Georgia State Masters Track Meet. It was a lot of fun. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

There'll probably be track meets for your age, though you may have trouble finding larger fields of people to compete with.
As for short, off-track races, they are few and far between here in BC, but I'd like to see more. |
