I'm looking for dedicated female runners - not Olympic stars, but "average" women - who might be interested in telling their stories for inclusion in a literary project. Why do you run? How do you carve out the time? Do you run with a club, or enjoy the solitude? How do you get past burnout and stay motivated? Have you noticed the benefits of running in other areas of your life, such as enhanced confidence, energy, time-management skills, friendships?
The idea is to produce a book that will provide both inspiration and information for women runners, by sharing stories they can relate to. The stories will be arranged according to theme, and supplemented with expert advice from my co-author, Art Liberman, a running coach and author of "The Everything Running Book." (You can check him out at his Web site, www.marathontraining.com. I'm a journalism professor and former newspaper editor, currently training for my second marathon. (I got the idea for this project when I was training for my first marathon last year, and really wanted to hear from other women who were, like me, juggling work, children, etc. with running.)
Anyway, if you'd like to share your story, please send an email to me at dorisnews@charter.net, and we can go from there.
Thanks,
Doris Schmidt |
