Since we are in December and the year is winding down I thought I would ask everyone what the high points of their year were in the running world. This would be as both a spectator and participant.

For me as a participant the high point was getting to run a couple of races this year. And winning $5 at one of them. Very Happy

As a spectator the high point would be watching the daughter race the 5K this spring at what was most likely her last college race. Watching Paula Radcliffe's results this year was a high point also.

In a category that would be both spectator and participant, the Fantasty Track & Field League was definately a high point. I am looking forward to that again in 2003, 04, 05,....................

I agree about the Fantasy League ... Even though it was a first run, it was well done and a lot of fun even if I didn't do well ... Embarassed

...

Didn't do much running last year with the new baby and all but plan on changing that this year ...

Spectator wise I would say watching the emergence of Krummenaker as a world mid distance force !!! Bout time ... Now if Mo resurges this coming season I will be fine ...

I would have to agree with Conway on the emergance of Krummenaker, especially because he's from New Mexico. I would also like to add Teeter and Runyan successes as they made me smile this year.

As a participant I was slower this year than I ever have been. But I was still able to win a couple of road races. I hope to be faster next year.

Personal 2002 highs coaching two conference championship track teams, men indoor, women outdoor. Cross Country high was when my women won the college race at Oklahoma State.

Elite, I really loved watching Krummenacker this year. I also loved seeing Khalid K win one of the greatest marathons in history.

I'll second/fourth the Teter/Krummenacker emergence...

Personally would be either getting back into good enough running shape to feel like I wasn't making a fool of myself in the alumni 5k or a few coaching highlights last spring, such as getting a girl into the conference finals into the 100 and 200 when she didn't think she should even be entered at conference (also a low moment, as she had a painfully bad 2nd day in 3 of her 4 events) and getting a guy to improve 1/3 of a second in the 100 when he came back to use remaining eligibility despite being pretty much done with school and having a lengthy injury history.

Drossin did have an outstanding year ... Would love ot see her trnaslate that into something at Nationals and Worlds this year ... And how did you post that photo ???

Never really got to this topic, but its not too late since we're only in to the 2nd month. My choices will be more personal as related to this site.

In no particular order:

Team Guru - I lobbied for it and DG came through! Thumbs Up

Micah's job promotion.

Dan buying a house.

Great sprint discussions with Justin, Conway, Dan.

Addition of coachd to the forum.

Additions of RangerG, Jafar, Mad Dog Mike to the forum

Revelation that DG and Hammer were college teamates under coachd.

Great Ultra threads by Micah with emphasis on WS100.

Getting down to Salem to meet and have lunch with Dan. And training, but that's 2003.

Running my 1st 5K (Dec 6).

Purchasing a measuring wheel. Since I work for the phone company, I guess cones shouldn't be a problem. Wink
