Ok, I downloaded last year's IAAF athlete rankings. That's a start... Rolling Eyes

Still need to pick up a couple more non-GL meets and 3 more events (1 men's, 2 women's)...

How's this look for meets?

Meeting Gaz de France, Paris Friday, 1 July (GL)
Lausanne Athletissima, 5 July (Super Grand Prix)
Golden Gala Rome Friday, 8 July (GL)
IAAF Grand Prix Zagreb, 11 July
Meeting de Madrid, 16 July (Super Grand Prix)
Thessaloníki Greece, 17 July (Grand Prix II)
Norwich Union British Grand Prix, 22 July
Helsinki Grand Prix, 25 July (Grand Prix)
DN Galan Stockholm 26 July (Super Grand Prix)
Bislett Games Oslo Friday, 29 July (GL)
World Champs, Helsinki, 6-14 August
Weltklasse Zürich Friday, 19 August (GL)
Norwich Union Super Grand Prix, 21 August
Intersport Gugl-Meeting, 23 August (Grand Prix)
Memorial Van Damme Brussels Friday, 26 August (GL)
Rieti 28 August (Grand Prix)
Istaf Berlin Sunday, 4 September (GL)
World Athletics Final, Monaco, Sunday, 9-10 September

Question mark meets in bold; need 2 of them to round out a ten meet schedule.

Men
100m
800m
1500m/Mile
3000m/5000m

Women
100m
800m
3000m/5000m

I'll need to check the event schedules of the possibles meets and see what common non-GL events there are, but Lausanne, Madrid, and Stockholm are the most likely.

I hope that Norwich Union Super Grand Prix, 21 August, 2005, will make it into the final 10.
It is great to see that you are working on it, already.

I would favor Lausanne and Madrid as the lsat two mets ... As Super Grand Prix meets they should draw strong fields ... British meets tend to end up having more drop outs - the weather is just never good ...

Depending on common events, I would like to see either the 400 or 110H added for the men ... Maybe the 100H and a field event for the women - HJ or PV maybe ... Just looking at events that are deep and competitive, which should lead to major athletes taking part of some sort of regular basis ... The 200 for women and men could also be hot if they are regularly contested ..

I'm definitely liking Madrid because it fills the one big gap in the schedule, and either Lausanne or DN Galan round things out pretty equally from that standpoint.

I agree on adding the 110/100H for both men and women and the 400 for both.

I support adding 100/110 m H and 400 m for both.
The Swedish women have shown well so far this year. Finland and Sweden are next door from each other. Even to the Poles, Helsinki may be a little cool. It should make no difference in a long distance races, but in power events, it may make a difference.

I think we're ok on scoring models for 110h and both 400's, but not the 100h. (The 110h scoring comes from the decathlon scoring model.) If those 3 events are held regularly enough in non-GL meets, they should be pretty competitive.

I can't find any event info on the DN Galan site, but Lausanne shows the following for event schedule:

Women
100 m
400 m
800 m
1500 m
100 m haies
Triple Saut
Perche (pole vault???)

Men
100 m
200 m
400 m
800 m
1500 m
3000 m
110 m haies
400 m haies
Disque
Hauteur
Triple Saut

So, the 400 and 110's are doable for that meet, at least. Although, I somehow doubt the event schedule will remain that complete...

Dan, what about the 1500 for the women since the 100H is out?

With regards to Madrid - does it mess things up that they did not have a 100M (as far as I can tell) last year and possibly not this year...

As you know already I support the 400m added on both sides for sure 110mH as well for the men... hmm what else - I like the idea (if it fits in of having at least one Field event in there like the HJ was for women last year...
