I just read that Stephanie Graf is injured, making my vaunted 800m roster not quite so intimidating... I think I should rename my team to The Bench Warmers.

Speaking of athletes that aren't running, I've been wondering. What happened to Cathy Freeman? She was so good in the Olympics, she didn't run in the World Champs last year and I havent heard anything about her this year. Has she retired? _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

She took last year off, just to get away from the sport for a bit and all the pressures that led up to her Olympic win at home. She was expected to return this year, but that seems to have fizzled. I'm not sure of the exact reason.

Husband has cancer, I think, and she has cancelled the season pretty much. |

Bummer, I liked her. I thought she was a great role model for young people from all walks of life all over the world. I sure hope she's back in time for Athens. _________________ Time is the fire in which we burn |

I had a chance to watch her up close at the Harry Jerome meet a few years back (we got to stand right by the start/finish line) and was very impressed with the way she ran and carried herself. Very enjoyable to watch. That was back around '94 or '95, when she wasn't yet very well known.

Speaking of athletes not competing...what happened to Privalova? We were speculating about her running the 800.
I think I would like to put my daughter on my team. She wouldn't do any worse than some I have. |

Good question. Anyone hear what Irina's up to? It sure seems a lot of high caliber athletes are taking this non-championship year off or experimenting with different events...

Not sure what Irina is up to ... Would be a great year for her to experiment ... Would love to see her in the open 400, but she would do well in the 800 as well .. |
