This is a pretty common question, but does anyone ever get leg tightness, and also lower calf tightness (right above the Achilles tendons)? Yesterday was my rest day and when I ran today, I felt rejuvenated stamina-wise, but my legs felt like useless sticks of lead. I didn't feel that gliding sensation like I usually do when I run. I also felt like I was using more energy because I had to "pump" my legs harder in order to be on par with the pace.

There is also one more thing that I get when I run. It's very different from the above. I get like this weird, sticky, slime around my lips and when I try to rub my lips together to get rid of it, I look like a lady that just put on lipstick. Does anyone get that too?

I did some strides after my run yesterday so that the loosening can "carry over" the next day. I'll see if they'll be fine today, I'll even stretch before my run.

Will it work if you build up your mileage? It sounds really ridiculous, but I actually think that the mileage may fix it because it would strengthen the legs more compared to running the same weekly mileage over and over again. I remember that you said in a thread that you ran about 35 miles each week. Or what if you do a really fast workout, and then go back to easy running? It always feels as if my easy pace feels even easier after a set of 1000s on my legs. Have you tried working out the legs with weights too?

I dont think you got what Dan meant, hes saying thats what happens when you run every day. Your legs hurt no matter how much stretching or strides you do.
