I am a 5'3" female weighing 125 lbs. I recently worked at a summer camp, and while there I had no scale but I felt i lost weight because my clothes fit better. I've only been home about two weeks, and already my pants are extremely tight and my scale reads 125 lbs once again. I do not feel I am eating more, but my exercise schedule has severely increased--I run about 4 miles a day, and sometimes that is done with intervals and such. Can one actually gain weight from a change in exercise routine? Do you feel I weight too much for my height? Please let me know |

Most definitely. Exercise builds muscle and burns fat, in simplest terms, and muscle weighs more than fat. So, it is easy to see how one can gain weight through exercising.
There should be several similar posts throughout the forum. As I've said before, I don't believe in labeling a proper weight for any given height. It's all about how you feel, strength to weight ratio, what your goals are (a sprinter will be heavier than a distance runner of the same height), etc.

Training can also increase the ability to store fat and carbohydrates in muscle tissue, which would result in a weight gain with no change in outward appearance. |

Can you explain that a bit more? I would have thought training would decrease the capacity for storing anything but muscle in the muscles, except maybe water...
