Ok my last track meet i felt good when we got there and did the 4x100 and after that it all went down hill. I felt light light headed and dizzy for the next 30 minutes to an hour and had to do the 100. I guess the adrenaline kicked in but quickly went away, i drank some power aid or whatever its called and some crackers and started to feel better but it was a pretty sh*tty day. Ended with the 200
I ate some pasta and bread for breakfast but it was one of those premade meals your throw in the microwave (are those bad to eat? the nutrition facts looked all right) and drank water but im not sure if it was enough.
So what do you eat to stay active and feelin good all day.
O btw it was pretty hot out and i was trying to stay in the shade |

Sounds like serious dehydration. One word: WATER!

I agree with the water ... But you need to make sure you eat a good solid meal the day before ... That's what you're going to be burning on meet day ... And what's with the microwave ??? Eat some REAL food ... If its pasta you crave, then boil some water and drop some in !!!! The package will tell you how long to let it boil for ... Can have it with some butter or olive oil or a jar of spaghetti sauce from the store ... That's pretty simple ... Not like trying to drill a steak or cook shrimp or something like that ... Eat REAL food !!! Eat crap and run like crap ... _________________ Conway

Good call. Anything pre-packaged is likely to be empty of real nutritional value. Just the breakdown on the nutritional label can be very misleading.

Sorry, Conway, couldn't let that one go... must have been a "Home Improvement" line.

A lot of the premade stuff is pretty sodium-heavy...not the best call when you are already a bit dehydrated!
BTW, shrimp is actually really easy to make! |

Meat, meat, and more meat. Sprinter or not, anyone who does an all-out muscular sport like football or bodybuilding needs as many liquids, protein possible. _________________ My favorite all time race: Hicham El Guerrouj - Prefontaine Classic Mile 2002 http://youtube.com/watch?v=4YykUTHzOL8

Hey!
There is a reason why do I hate the mass media!
This is so stupid!
I love how the mass media loves to miss the target: 1st to create an issue out of a non—issue, they miss to the left, and later, they miss to the right.
Does water hydrate you better than coffee? Yes.
Does water with a few grains of salt hydrate you nearly as well as sports' drinks? Yes.
Could you hydrate yourself with coffee? Yes, but...
...you will need 1/8 more water (in other words, instead of 8 glasses a day, when you are not active, you would need 9 to 10 glasses, if you drunk only coffee).
Could you hydrate yourself with Soda? No.
I did give some Soda to Mr Bentley, but I did still make him drink water.
Soda, depending on brand, does hydrate you – I am speaking based on my personal experience – only temporarily, very temporarily. The worst brands, at present, are Coca Cola and Pepsi Cola – even when I did drink many cans: 6 to 8, I still had to drink water. Not far behind it, there is Mountain Due when it comes to a low hydrating volume.
Cokes used to be an OK drink, but at present, after sells have been suspended in European Union and China on a few occasions due to the poor quality of water used in the Cokes, they are not – just shake any Coke and see grease—like bubbles racing through the fluid – see for yourself that the product is not what it used to be.
20 years ago, whenever I got coke, I did love to drink it.
10 years ago, I did like it.
Since 5 years ago, I do try to avoid it. _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ

About coke...I drink loads of it just mainly for the fizzing taste. I even eat a lot of fast food if I want to before a run such as a KFC. It all gets burned anyways, so what's the big deal? Now by that, I mean that you can drink coke, but you need to combine it with some long lasting carbs. _________________ My favorite all time race: Hicham El Guerrouj - Prefontaine Classic Mile 2002 http://youtube.com/watch?v=4YykUTHzOL8

Caffeine is not the major negative to soda, rather the carbonation. Carbonation messes with the digestion of certain nutrients (such as iron) and is a likely culprit of side aches. I believe it also has an effect on thinning the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood stream, but I don't remember exactly.

Do you mean the "fizz" or the gas itself? Sometimes I drink a little too much, and I feel very bloated. It even hurts so much that I just want to burp it out, but I can't. I just drink a lot then go to the bathroom for 5 minutes to release as much of the gas I can. i don't know why everyone says that caffeine is bad, Red Bull is bad. I personally drank 2 cans of Red Bull before running, and it gave me so much euphoria that I was happy throughout my whole session. I have read that natural stimulants that stimulate the brain to create dopamine are food, sex, etc. Narcotics are just artifical that stimulate the brain to create about 6 times more dopamine than normal...anyways they are obviously terrible. Do you ever get that feeling when you eat something you like or drink soda, but then too much of it makes you feel sick?
About side aches or stitches, I think they are just another one of those conspiracy theories like the hiccups, obviously, they are so unpredictable. _________________ My favorite all time race: Hicham El Guerrouj - Prefontaine Classic Mile 2002 http://youtube.com/watch?v=4YykUTHzOL8
