Good news: For the first time in nearly a year and a half, I can rotate my foot in while pointing my toes and not experience any tendon pain! It used to be a sharp-as-a-knife pain.

Outstanding!!!
Does that mean you can return to the ballet soon?
Seriously, every step in the process of recovery is encouraging. I am going to try a few running steps today for the first time in 12 weeks. Wish me luck. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

I don't think they allow muddy running shoes in the ballroom... But, at least now I won't be woken up at night by shooting pains in my foot.

It's been a crazy week but I did get out twice. I've been able to work 4 running segments of 60-90 seconds into a 30 minute walk. So far...so good. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

No way. I require no group assistance in covering the spectrum of injuries. I managed to throw out both my lower back and neck yesterday...

Last night, for the first time in 207 weeks -- one week shy of 4 years -- I ran a race... It was a 3k XC race at Bush Park, site of Willamette U's meets and our HS course.
I've been averaging 25-30 miles per week the past 2+ months, but other than running hills with my team, I haven't done any workouts and no pace work or anything timed, for that matter. So, I really had no clue what the intensity would feel like or how my body would respond. I spent the entire day trying to work the kinks out of my legs and back prior to the 6pm race...
I was optimistically shooting for 12:30, with a 6:30 mile split. In reality, I was hoping to be sub-13 but wouldn't have been surprised if 7-pace (mid-13's) were a challenge. To my delight, I ended up at 11:59.7, with a 6:23 mile split! The second mile only slowed down 4 seconds. More importantly, I never got passed during the race and was passing people throughout after starting conservatively.
The course has a moderate hill in the first mile and a fairly big hill in the 2nd mile, with the downhill after each one being short and steep, so you never really recover as much time on the downs as you lose on the ups.
I had three of the guys on my team pacing me throughout, which definitely helped!
