Can I have your opinions please on the standard of competiton in my area.

I have included a link to the latest 5K race in my area where I completed the course in 20.53 and finished 63rd. Bare in mind it was a humid evening and the course had 2 100m 45 degree hills in.

I just wonder how good the top runners in this race are?

Thanks

Looks like pretty typical local road race results to me.

That looks like real tough competition to me. In the area I live, southeast Georgia, we wouldn't see that many runners under 19:00 in a small 5K. In the larger cities those results would be fairly typical but there would be a lot more runners between 21:00 and 29:00 probably.

I looked at the results in a couple of races, here, including the Iris Festival down Dan's way. None of them had the depth in the 16:00 to 19:00 time period yours did. And these two had twice the number of competitors. It seems your 5K series is drawing a very high caliber group of people.

I hope to be in that 16:00 to 19:00 group very soon, The winner Daniel Watts has just returned from his second semester at Oklahoma State University, where he was offered a track and cross-country scholarship. There are some pretty decent young runners in the area.

To be clear, I was just looking at the spread of times, not the depth of them.

Yeah its a good race good group of sub 17's too I was over in the UK the week before and woul dhave loved to have found a race lik ethat whil ethere - but work probably would have prevented my competing anyway so I guess its just as well

Based on what you say about the course I would say its a nice race

I run a bunch of the New York Road Runners Races and although they have more runners in the fast range the percentage is lower...
