I would like to interest you in a prediction competition for the World Championships in soccer that will take place this year in Germany (to get list of the participants, please go to FIFA’s web site).
The deadline for the prediction of the group phase is February 28, 2006.
I will enter my final prediction of the 16-teen 1/8th finalists today.
Group A: 1. Germany 2. Poland
Group B: 1. England 2. Sweden
Group C: 1. Argentina 2. Ivory Coast
Group D: 1. Mexico 2. Portugal
Group E: 1./2. USA Italy ex quoi
Group F: 1. Brazil 2. Australia
Group G: 1. France 2. Togo
Group H: 1. Spain 2. Tunisia
This is the 1st prediction -- the next prediction will be after the Group play is over, you will have to predict entire playoffs.
For every right prediction in the group phase, you will get plus 1 point; if the team that you predicted to advance to the playoffs will place fourth, you will lose one point. If you will get all the first place teams right, you will get 10 extra points; and if ‘only’ all teams that will advance to the playoffs, you will get 5 extra points.
For every right prediction in the playoffs, you will get 3 points, and only one penalty point for every wrong prediction.
If you predict the top four right, you will get 7 extra points.
Please post the prediction and e-mail to dekolak@yahoo.com or me
Thank you

Dignified is Murzyn
Normal is Czarny or black
Murzyn comes from Mirza or Murza that was a legal noble rank equal to Sir or Knight in the Polish--Lithuanian Union (confederation until 1569; and after the Act of the Diet of Krewa, it was a federation until 1791 or the second partition in which entire Grand Duchy of Lithuania was lost to Russia with the exception, if I remember correctly, of Vilnius and Kaunas areas that were left to the belittled in power and size Kingdom of Poland that, in turn, disappeared after the third partition, between enemies Russia and Prussia, and friendly Austria, in 1795) that was used by Lithuanian and Polish Tatars or Lipka -- Duchy’s and Kingdom -- Crown’s Tatars. The noble rights of Tatars were confirmed by charters during the 1500’s and early 1600’s.
Part of the reason why Polish--Lithuanian federation was so liberal was their next door neighbor’s the Khanate of Crime, but most importantly the Ottoman Empire. Poland--Lithuania could not afford the holy nonsense like Inquisition or Crusades (in reality in 1410 at Tannenberg or Grunwald or Zalgiris; the Poles, Lithuanians, Latvians, Belarusians, Ukrainians, westernmost Russians from Smolensk, Moldavians, Crimean Tatars (about 1000 to 1500), and some Czechs as well as a few Slovaks defeated the “Crossed” Knights of the “Holy Mary” Order killing 30,000 of so-called Northern Crusaders and Honorable Associates from countries as far off as France and England and halted the first Drang Nacht Osten -- check my spelling -- for nearly 400 years).
To make the matter short, until the most recent times, the only place where Poles and other peoples from Poland-Lithuania were able to meet brown and black people was on a mercantile or diplomatic mission to Istanbul (or Constantinople) or elsewhere within the Ottoman Empire.
Thus the “Sir” or “Mirza” or “Murza” became Murzyn for a black person.
Although, we cannot predict “what if” past as much as we cannot predict the future, if the all--out war out--broke between Poland-Lithuania and the Ottoman Empire, the Poland-Lithuania would have lost, and would have become part of the Ottoman Empire, but the cost to the Ottoman Empire would have been so high that other enemies would have obliterated the Ottoman Empire within one century. The before--stated is the most likely scenario, and not the only possibility.

Group prediction:
Poland will start with a team that they are ready to underestimate because recently in Iberia, they easily beat them 3 to null. USA, on the other hand, will play the last game with an African team that has been most underpaid by their native federation amongst the African nations.
Poland will take a cold shower in this game, and be happy to win 2:1, and escape with 3 points for the win. Ghana will fair the worst amongst the African teams present in Soccer World Cup’2006 in Germany. The team USA will be pouring champagne on their heads.
Poland will lose to the host nation, Germany. USA will tie Italy 1:1 -- it is near impossible to score a goal against Italy, if they decide to wall--the goal in a sophisticated Italian way.
USA will take first place in the group based on the goal difference.
Poland, keeping in mind the near disaster against Ecuador, will play their hearts out against Costa Rica, and win 3:0. It is not even that the Polish national team is superior to the Costa Rican. It is much simpler: no one beats East European teams in the simplicity and quickness of the counteroffensive play. Nearly all South, Central, and North American as well as the Caribbean teams experience enormous difficulty playing against the East European soccer--style teams. The score in the game in between the two American teams will be irrelevant, but I believe that Costa Rica and Ecuador will play to a draw.
The Czech Republic will be a none factor, since they will not be able to withstand the physical toil or shear brutality of their rivals. Czechs are not famous for courage.

What year? Was it when Cameron was the new hot team? Did they advance to the second round at least? Did they win--I mean the French--any medals? |
Sorry I didn't remeber well
when France hosted World cup in the 1998 it won, but the next world cup in the 2002 it finish last in the first round.
and it won the European champs in the 2000 and in the next champs in the 2004 it was out at quarter. _________________ “But the most important thing is that you're having fun. instead I am not certain because Germany lost 4-0 vs Italy in a friendly match last month _________________ “But the most important thing is that you're having fun. It's not about the results or being number one in the world, it's about feeling satisfied and enjoying it.” Carolina Kluft |

I believe that the Poles will win 2:1 in the first game; since they recently beaten their opposition 3:0 in Portugal, and since the simplest--possible -- fastest--possible counterattack style preferred by the East European teams seems to be so unbelievable to the American, and most especially Latin American players, that they some times question its legality with the refs (e.g., a 50 yard throw from a golly to just before the midfield line -- no offside, and a crazy run with the ball by one player, and one shot past the golly), I believe that the Poles will ignore the opposition, and will struggle, but win in the end, in their first game. In their second game, the Poles and the Germans will play their guts out, and the game should end in a tie. The last two games should decide which teams are going to advance from the group. _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ

What people usually do not understand about the Italian side is that they are not typical Southern team. If they want to, they are able to play the sturdiest defense on Earth – great tactical discipline in the time of need. I believe that the tem USA can win the group, but with a tie against the mighty Italy, and outscoring the Italians against the other teams in the group.
If the team USA will beat Italy 1:0, and be able to win the other group games playing a lot of second string players, I would bet a lot of money, if I were to bet, that the team USA is going to win a medal, and most likely a gold one (remember there are two gold medals in soccer for the 1st and 2nd place finish).
I am fairly certain that team USA will win at least a medal by 2010, but I am not certain if team USA will win the World Cup. _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ

I am standing by the above--written in spite of that the team USA just lost to Germany 4:1. At present there is a very little difference between traditionally weak teams such as Albania or Luxembourg and middle—of—the—ranking teams such as Finland or Poland and the top teams such as the Czech Republic or Portugal. In the most recent game between Poland and the Czech Republic, Poland won 2:1 – somehow, Poland seems to dominate other East European teams in the head—to—head meetings.
I guess that a combination of market economy and size. I would love to see a European cup – style double – game friendly between Poland and Russian Federation. The best team in Eastern Europe taking field against the mighty Russia, if you exclude Croatia that lies in Southern Europe.
These games would be much less politically charged then during the times of the Soviet domination, but because the Poles love to drug out Katyn’ , the Polish—Lithuanian occupation of Moscow in 1610-1611, the partitions’ times, and the Russo—Polish (the name is right: it was not political war, it was a national war, in spite of the Bolshevik self-deception) War of 1919-1920, and the Fourth Partition of Poland between the nazi and the communists in 1939, with the persistency of a maniac who wants to be on war footing with the other country.
The Poles love to aggravate the present situation. The Russians will remember for a long time that the Poles and Lithuanians were instrumental in getting the Ukraine from under the Russian influence zone, and putting it in the European Union’s and NATO’s influence zone.
I hope that the Polish fans would behave in a civilized manner during the playing of the Russian Federation’s national anthem, and towards the Russian fans.
Even one of the Afghan ‘holy warriors,’ during the Afghan struggle against the Soviet occupation, with much more common sense than Bin Laden, said that once the Soviets are defeated, he would love to trade with them. Poland may be part of the European Union, and its economy may be much stronger than that of Afghanistan, but Poland still has much more to loose, if, like it has recently, the trade relation with the Russian Federation breaks down. _________________ http://vincovitanj.tripod.com/Do_not_be_a_victim1/index.htmlhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u43o595CARQ
