I turn 18 in about one month and have been planning a trip to a local casino to play poker, but I don't know whether you need to be 18 or 21. Anyone know? _________________ November 9th... |

"Over 18 Only"
I'd guess that's your answer.

Just remember, in the long run the casinos always win.
Ward's Worthless Gambling Strategy: Go in with the amount of money you are willing to lose in your right pocket. Play out of that pocket only and put anything you win in your left pocket. When the right pocket is empty walk out with whatever is in your left pocket. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Micah, you don't play the casino in poker (hold 'em). I have no desire to play BJ or craps, only Hold 'em. _________________ November 9th... |

I'm not sure how hold 'em is played but I would stick with the pocket theory. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Simple run-down (no pun intended):
1. Each player receives two down cards that only they can see (Ace-Ace is the best starting hand followed by King-King, Ace-King of the same suit, Queen-Queen, etc.)
2. Round of betting occurs
3. Three community cards then placed that all players can see and use
4. Round of betting
5. One more community card
6. Round of betting
7. One more community card
8. Round of betting
Make the best five card poker hand with your two cards and the five community cards.
If you ever see poker on TV, this is the game they're playing.
I will be sure to abide by the pocket theory, but I plan on winning money (although so does everyone else). _________________ November 9th... |

OK, I recognize the game now. I haven't watched poker on tv. For some reason that fad has not grabbed me. But I notice that it is on ESPN, The Travel Channel and Bravo Network. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

The thing that drives me nuts is they can show that stuff in primetime and live - but we have to wait weeks or months for a track meet!!! _________________ The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat. |

I'd have to agree. Not only is it the most boring spectator event imaginable, but it gets prime coverage that T&F has to pay for.

To each his own I guess. I like watching it, but that's probably because I really like playing it too. Similar to how I like watching T&F because I compete (when healthy) in T&F. I don't like watching sports that I have never played (w/ the exception of football). Soccer, hockey, golf, etc. - they all are incredibly boring. _________________ November 9th... |

Soccer and track are the top participatory sports in this country, so by that reasoning alone, they should be doing much better on TV.
