The recovery seems to be progressing nicely. Did an hour last night in just over 10:00 pace and covered 5.9 miles. I ran (shuffled) the entire way with no walking.
Once again......maybe I have turned the corner.  _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Went out for 1:56:00 yesterday and covered 10.5 miles. The running pace was slightly over 10 minutes and I was walking 2 minutes out of every 20. The calf felt great but my shirt was so damp from sweating that my nipples and underarms are raw from the chafing.
It sure feels good to complain about something besides my calves. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Yeah I dont have the problem with the arms but nipples kill and mine seem to wind up bleeding - I use th circulat bandaids and they work great although sometimes its a pain to get off at the end of a run |

I'm telling ya, vaseline works wonders, is cheap as can be, and is no muss, no fuss. Lots of fancy products get marketed to runners that are much more expensive and aren't really an improvement in any way.

You could buy 10 years' worth of vaseline for that price.

RACE REPORT
Saturday was the Hoofin' For Habitat 5K on the campus of Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA. It was a mostly flat, out and back course and we had very pleasant 55 degree temps. I just settled into a comfortable pace and cruised through to a 27:07 finish which is a 8:45 pace. There was no pain and I felt like I could have gone faster.
Later that day Baboo and I went to the Homecoming football game where our alma mater squeeked by Appalachian State 54-7. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Nicely done. You probably needed tranquilizers to come down from the emotional tightrope of sweating out the final minutes of that nail biter.

I almost hate to say this out of fear that I will jinx myself, but I may have turned the corner on the calf injuries. I still feel the odd twinge from time to time but there is nothing bad enough to stop me from running as long as I don't get too fast. So the plans for the rest of the year is to just run easy and let the healing process continue. I am planning on 3 more races this year but I will just run comfortable and not try to push for any specific time. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

I would say that is the prudent way to go - it takes a long time to get to wherever you want to go wasn't it Dellinger that said something like
"Good things come slow - especially in distance running."
So take it slow and it will come back to you _________________ The long run is what puts the tiger in the cat. |

Isn't it funny how the personal thread posts seem to slow down toward the end of the year? Not much change here. The calves are doing ok most of the time but flair up occasionally when I try to increase speed. I haven't lost the weight I wanted to and didn't come anywhere close to running the times I wanted to. But oh well....better to have goals and not make them than not to have any goals at all.
I'm running an 8K cross country race tomorrow. Actually I will just jog slowly through it because I like cross country so much and don't want to miss this one. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Nothing funny about it... I tend to be broken down at the end of the year and barely running, thus nothing to update with.
