WVRR was a bit disorganized a couple of years ago, from what I gather. But they were actually two or three different clubs that merged into one, and that has helped them tremendously. I work with them on various web stuff and give them the full
By the way, I got the Cascade results last night from the WVRR webmaster and posted them in searchable form on ActiveSalem.com.

A few more area road races for Will, and we can track his progress! I don't think you told us about the Art Fair 5k last year...

Actually, maybe the Art Fair was the 5k you were basing your XC goals on?

Well, I didn't feel I could brag with a time 21+ and when I had to out sprint a 38 year old woman at the end as well as a 13 year old kid.
Although I'm pretty new to the WVRR scene, I really like it. All the races I've participated in have been very well organized and have had refreshments at the end. This 15k I plan on doing isn't really a popular race even though it's only six bucks. Based on last year's results, I should be able to win my age group by default! _________________ November 9th... |

Sort of. I couldn't have done the last mile around 6:40 like I did in my 8k this summer, but I also know I could have gone probably 10 secs per mile faster for the final mile or mile and a half. And, yeah, they did have mile markers. I wouldn't really call it a 'race', because I was pretty unfamiliar with that distance. I felt I did a good job for how I felt that day and considering the weather.
Yeah, I do have a full week this week. But next week, only two days! I gotta admit, it's pretty easy being a public school student these days. _________________ November 9th... |

I've now been to hell and back.
For all 11 miles (12.5 including warm up/cool down) I was out, it was wet. In addition to the extreme wetness and copius amount of rain there was a large amount of wind. I'm really happy I was able to get through it all, even if I thought about turning back early. If the weather is like this Sunday I think I'll need to postpone my long run (fortunately missing one now isn't going to kill me).
Although I didn't see any hot chicks on my run, I did see a 'hot' car. A new Porshe Boxster. _________________ November 9th... |

Nice
I always think of bad weather days as a chance to pick up ground on lesser motivated runners. |

Yeah, that's good advice.
I usually just think about this past summer and what it was like running in 100 degree temperatures. After that, I'll take anything. _________________ November 9th... |

Both ideas are good. I do pretty well in warm weather, though. 100 degree temps are past warm, however. _________________ Paul

I'll bet those felt like boulders by the time you were done. Dan, what the heck are you doing up at 2:30 in the morning?? _________________ Paul

Good run Will! Running in bad weather builds the mental toughness that is needed to be a good runner. And sometimes it is fun in a challenging way. That is what makes runners different I guess. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Funny you should pick yesterday to ask that. I'm normally up that late, actually. But yesterday had an excuse... I was helping my neighbor lay the new kitchen floor all evening, and we finished up around 1 or 2 am with the base layer. I went to bed at 3:30 and woke up at 12:30... Actually, I first woke up at 8:30 and off and on over the next 4 hours, but here I am thinking about breakfast and the day is half gone. Nice looking day out, too.

My legs felt great actually. It would have been easy to push further but the weather was pissing me off quite a bit. Also, it was a medium-long run, so I figured 11 would be a good distance. _________________ November 9th... |
