Wow, those were some crazy races (the semis and final). Greene doesn't even advance, and same for Boldon. Slow times in the finals with a 0 m/s wind and only one of the pre-meet favorites even making the medal stand. What were Tim and Bernard doing, just racing each other?
I'm rather proud of my boy D. Brown today.

The joy ride has come to an abrubt halt, however, as Sanya Richards didn't make it out of her semi.

I'm still in shock over that 100 ... Is somewhat like the Olympic 200 in 2000 ... Nothing that was supposed to happen in that race did ... Oh well ... I'll get another win with Guevara !!! And another (?) with Johnson plus points with Wade (gotta rep for HSI now) ... Starting to look better and better ... _________________ Conway

I like Wade a lot (he and AJ were the backbone of my team last year), but he's seemed rather questionable the past few meets. I wouldn't be surprised to see him 6th or 7th.
I guess the non-surprising thing about the men's 100 is we expected surprises because of the complete lack of certainties. I had little confidence in Mo, Tim, or Dwain to medal, but I figured at least one of them would come up with something to show for the trouble...

I held out hope for Mo cause he ran that 9.94 in LA and looked good doing it ... I figured he'd be ready by this time ... Neither Tim nr Dwain have impressed me ... Neither has gone sub 10 ... Which you would expect from someone who is supposed to be at the level they talk about being at ... Dwain does not win outside Britain ... And Tim has yet to win anything meaningful in his career ... US fortunes lay with the likes of Gatlin and Capel - young and improving and solid over 200 as well ... _________________ Conway

Slow times, but Kelly Holmes keeps hopes alive with a 2nd place in the 800m, only three-tenths behind Mutola. So far, Sanya Richards is my only disappointment (Patrick Johnson not advancing was expected)...

My earlier point calculations were a wee bit off, but I forgot I've got a calculator set up that anyone can use:
http://run-down.com/fantasy/score.php
If I got it right this time, I've got 632 points thus far from White, Edwards, Brown, and Holmes. If Guevara, Ayhan, Kipketer, and Miles can account for 650-700 more...

Yep ... Cut her foot and had to pull out of the final ... But Grevara should come through for me today barring unforeseen problems .... I hope ... _________________ Conway

Ouch.
Guevara ain't losing, though. You need her points for that assault on the top-10.
I just checked the rosters, and only 4 people other than myself selected Darrel Brown. I actually half expected to be the only one, but it still shows how unheralded he was before this week.

Miles qualified comfortably in the vault, meaning an 8 in 12 chance (or 2 in 3 for you math majors ) of scoring points...
