A lot of last minute scratches knocked some rather high expectations down a few rungs. I was counting on 100-150 from Miles, an extra 40-50 out of Kipketer, and hoping for 40 or so from Patrick Johnson. That would have moved me up to around 71st, right in line with my early goal of cracking the top 75 this meet... Same probably goes for lots of sqads, though.

This is not the way I had envisioned the season to unfold.
How about a fantasy ultra league next year?  _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Fantasy Ultra? More like Nightmare Ultra... Not just from the running standpoint, but also the contest. I can't imagine trying to come up with a scoring system that would be fair across various courses...
Has Garcia even competed this year?
I don't see Patrick making it out of the semis at Paris... Even that might be pushing his luck at this point.

Dan, maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like Bernard Williams finished 6th in Zurich in the 100m, but I don't see him scored for that. Thanks.
Also, is it common to combine times to determine the winner of races such as the men's 100m at Berlin? Race "2" looks like a B race, even though a lot of times were faster (maybe due to the wind). I'm watching the meet on (yes, American) TV and they only mentioned the first race. And an American even won overall, so you'd think they'd mention that...
Hmm, maybe it's the same issue at Zurich. I didn't realize times would be combined from A and B races to get overall placing.

Williams ran 10.13. The 8th best time was 10.10. You had me worried, though.
If a meet has separate heats run as finals, then there's no choice but to combine the best times of the heats for scoring purposes. Otherwise you're penalizing which ever heat is not designated as the "A" heat. Often times, separate heats are a way of allowing star runners to compete in the meet without going head to head, so that would be troublesome.
If a meet is run with qualifying heats and a final, then only the final counts for scoring.

Reported wind readings were +1.3 mph for the "A" race and +1.5 mph for the "B" race. Probably not enough of a difference to explain the fast "B" times. Simply a good field that deserves to be treated equally in the final results.
