Yeah, but you're close to the Willamette track, which is open to the public much of the time. Smile

i know, but it's REALLY annoying when I have to run in Lane 4. Luckily I was able to find a site online which tells you how many laps you need to run in any lane for a certain distance. Before that I often had to guess

It's fairly easy to figure the stagger adjustments for 400's and even 800's. Anything longer than that and I would say there isn't much point running the workout on the track unless it's a time trial.

Hey guys, Been away from the computer for a couple of days so I am just picking up on this thread. For what it is worth:

Since you haven't actually run a season of XC I would say go ahead and give it a try. I wouldn't make judgements on how well I will like XC based on open (road?) races. The whole team atmosphere and nature of XC might make the difference. And if you still don't like it...then you never have to do it again. Wink

Good luck and keep us posted.

Yeah, but then the title of this thread would just be "Call". What's the fun in that? Wink

Just an idea here, but could "Ducks" run track this year, but befriend one of the XC coaches or runners and do a bit of impromptu training to see how he likes it. If the coach is an understanding sort, he should be willing to let someone experience XC in the off chance that he will have another runner for 2004-2005. The time spent doing a little XC would not be wasted in any case, as long as it did not take away from, or degrade the track training.

Just my two cents....actualy about one cent... Laughing

That's sort of what I was getting at. It's actually pretty close to what I did my freshman year of college. I knew I wasn't ready for the step up, so I used the opportunity to train with the team, get ready for track, and get accustumed to 8k's at a higher level for sophomore year.

i could try that, but i heard the coach (she) doesn't really care about XC. there weren't any team workouts in the summer and i heard the first few days of practice she lets people do whatever they want. I've never met her, so I may go to the school tomorrow and she if she's in.

Is that Lisanne (sp?) ? If so, she seems quite nice and probably receptive to you trying things out to see how you like it.

I don't know much about her as a coach, actually. She helped out at a lot of the Willamette meets when I was in charge of the timing and results, so that's how I know her.

Hey Ducks Fan, planning on running in Bush tomorrow afternoon? I took today off after a disastrous run yesterday, but I expect to be back in the swing of things tomorrow...

I'll probably do one. I've been going about 2:15 or so, because I'm having to do my late run earlier and earlier (late June was nice when it stayed light until 9:45, but those days are behind us).

I could meet you out in the parking lot in front of the track around that time, if you like?

Should I ask, "are you Ducks Fan by any chance?" Smile
