5k plus about a minute. Which equates roughly to a good 8k time in my case.

Do friends of Alums count?? Count me in. Last year I was hoping to run this year. Does that make sense??

Scarily, it actually does... And yes, the event is open to anyone despite the name. Anyone care to wager on the Run-Down match race?
Have you seen the new trails around the Junior High yet? I'm curious to see what they did back there in the woods.

What is the age difference for you two? Maybe you can use the WAVA age graded standards to declare the winner. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

I still say, if Paul gets age grading, then I get "Run-Down" grading...

Difference in age is about 25 years. I'd have to have binoculars to keep Dan in sight!! |

Well, I plan on repeating last year's tactic of starting out as slow as possible, then try to work into a rhythm and gradually pick things up. So, it might be me who needs binoculars to see you early on...
Of course, if I wanted to paint my rear end with a red and white maple leaf and streak to the front, that might be another matter.

Dan, is the Alumni run tonight?? I hope to show up to watch, I've beaten myself up with workouts the past week or so. Knees are a bit sore.

I was just swinging by to post an update to this thread...
The run is scheduled for next Wednesday, but I haven't heard anything confirming it's actually on. I'll hopefully hear something definite soon.
At least your body is healthy enough to run it into the ground.
I got a good run in Monday with a friend from college. Right at an hour at a good clip. I was pretty sore for a few hours after...

That might work out good for me. A lot of people are taking it easy this week and probably next because of Hood To Coast this weekend. Do I have to go to a site to register??

Nah, it's not nearly that formal. Just show up a few minutes beforehand, fork over your $5, and get a bib number.
If nothing's been sent out and it is indeed still on, I can't help but wonder what sort of turnout we'll get... Or maybe my letter just got lost in the mail.

By the way, I have not seen the new trails in back of the Junior High yet. |

OK, I'm jazzed!! Kick ass workout at Tryon tonight. And this is after running sub 90 sec quarters at Lake O last night. Ran 4 full Nature Center loops, first and last were warmup and warmdown, middle two were hard. Bettered my time from 4 months ago by a full minute on the middle two. Distance on the loops are 2125m with some decent grade changes, but not as severe as some of the other trails. I covered the 3rd one in just over 10 minutes. I don't recall ever running that fast on that loop. Recovery between loops was a jog aroung the entire parking area in 3 min.
Ran into the LO coach (Eric?) and verified next week's alumni run; Wed 6 PM at the Junior High. New course!! Looking forward to seeing you there. I hope you can use this to kick off a good Fall training regimen.
Hope I don't overtrain between now and then!! Got the next two weeks off. Let me know if you want to get together. I'd even take in a Ducks Fan workout.
Hoping to do the Oktoberfest 10K in Mt. Angel.

Awesome workout, Paul! That's getting down to your dream mile pace.

We always figured it to be just shy of a mile and a half, so that looks about right. Those Nature Center trails are great for really floating along when you work into a good rhythm.

Excellent work by The Insider. I see I put the right man on the job... Oh, and that would be Eric Lider, "Hum Babe!"

Certainly, I'd be game. I imagine Ducks Fan is somewhat busy with team training now, but he might humor us... My schedule looks to be pretty open over the next week. I've been very low energy since Monday's run (insulating pipes in the crawl space Tuesday probably didn't help), but I should be rebounding soon...
