I hope so. I have ten big guns on my team but I only have ten so when they don't show up it will hurt. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

This first meet will be tough, with many US athlete-heavy rosters being poorly represented so soon after the US champs. If last year was an accurate indication, a roster full of big dawgs will pay off in the long run, so to speak.

Looks like Angela Williams is the only one I have competing, so once again, Micah and I are going head to head.
If I'm not mistaken, the first running event gets underway in an hour...

Well all I have is Arron so we will go head to head to head today ... I have several more in the next meet though ... I too have a small but powerful team this year ... I have a lot of empty events ... But I tried to fill all of the events last year and was still empty most of the time ... _________________ Conway

Last year, the people that did well the first meet faded in subsequent ones. Fitting that the first meet be held in Greece; it's like the curse of being married to Jackie O... There, how's that for a random reference?
Looks like they're going to make us hold our collective breaths as far as posting results... That or I miscalculated the timezone difference.

Strategy - pick athletes who run at lots of meets, not just those who score when they do run.
I was tempted to grab some big guns, but I wanted to go with people making frequent appearances, even if it's 3rds or 4ths every time. |

Not a bad strategy. It is just a role of the dice sometimes. _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

Definitely. Generally, the big guns compete in the big meets with the most regularity, but there are obviously some exceptions. The biggest risk is the athletes who dabble in multiple events, as you never know if they'll show up in the one you selected them for.
Looks like results are starting to roll in...

Well, first meet results are posted, and I hold the dubious distinction of the lowest score of those scoring points...
http://run-down.com/fantasy/index.php?go=full_results
Can only go up from here!
Something tells me the top two contestants based their rosters on the Athens start list...
Anyone catch the first version of the women's 800 results? They had AIT HAMOU at 1:54.62 instead of 1:59.62. Oops. They also had the men's 800 timed to the tenth, which would indicate some timing difficulties... Of course, now that I check back, they've updated those results, too. Bastards. I suppose I ought to go back and redo everything... Last time I ever select this piece of s@#! meet for the Fantasy League. :t-:

I like that selection strategy.
