OK ... All done with the indoor season ... Time for the fun to start !!!! Time to talk outdoor track and field !!!!! Now THAT's what I'm talkin about .... So based on indoors:
Justin Gatlin and John Capel are to be mentioned in the same breath with Mo Greene and Tim Montgomery .. Although Montgomery has yet to be seen ... While many think Mo's season indoors was a flop he ran 6.50 in the race in which he injured himself ... Best time all season was only 6.45 and his 6.50 (if he did no better) would have gotten silver at Worlds ... So get healthy and wuit trying to run every meet and he should still be a force ...
Tim has more image problems, trying to find a coach or coach figure head) and trying to get ready for Mo and Dwain (yeah remember Dwain) ... Problem is the pond got bigger this winter and anything having to do with thought derails Tim ...
Devers and Jacobs appear ready to do some great things for teh "older generation" ... And I tab both as gold medal favorites outdoors ...
Krummenaker now has a target on HIS back ... Yea Krummenaker ...
What happened to Teter ???
Dragila v Feofanova II ... First 16' competition ???
Whatever happened to America's female long jumpers ???
Ah but America's male long jumpers are back to stay ... Outdoor Worlds goes in 28' again !!!
Geb doubles this year and then leaves the sport ...
Tyree Washington goes 43.80 and suddenly MJ seems more human ...
Gatlin goes 19.60 and everyone goes crazy ...
Webb runs 3.33 and makes the US team ... Gets roasted at Worlds ...
US runs 37.38, and sets new WR at Worlds WITHOUT one of its two sub 9.80 sprinters ...
MLF becomes Britains top 100 meter sprinter ...
Britain gets double gold in the triple jump ...
And Run-Downs track and field fantasy league gets soem world wide attention !!! _________________ Conway

Key difference I see between the two right now is that Gatlin is consistently showing he will come up big when it counts, whereas Capel is a bit off and on and is still dogged by that pesky "P"-word hanging around his neck...
I believe Geb is shooting for Athens in '04 as his final go-round...

Now that's a sad state of affairs! JJK could probably make another comeback and challenge for a spot on the WC squad. Maybe we'll see Jenny Adams double this year because of the relative ease of qualifying in the LJ?
How's this look for a 100m final (by lane) in Paris, assuming the US gets 4 qualifiers with the wild card?
1 ) Kim Collins
2 ) Justin Gatlin
3 ) Maurice Greene
4 ) Tim Montgomery
5 ) Dwain Chambers
6 ) Mark Lewis-Francis
7 ) Frankie Fredericks
8 ) Darrel Brown
Chances are not everyone will make it through, but boy would that be a race to remember.

That would gbe a nice race .... But I say Darrell Brown is a ways away yet (we're talking sub 10 guys) ... I say Capel is the other American and he is in that final !!! Can you say "zoom zoom" ... Could be the first all sub 10 race in history ... Probably won't be ... But could be ... The other potential finalist I see there is Jason Gardener ... Some work on his trasition phase and he could get there ahead of Collins or Fredericks who I see as the weakest links in the race right now ... Course that could change in a few months ...
Michelle Colins says she si going to run the 200 outdoors as well as teh 400 ... I say she becomes the one to beat over 200 ... Guevara still has the edge stregnth wise I think in the 400 ... But with all that added speed boy could Collins give her fits ...
I could see Geb staying til 04 ... Who's gonna beat ElG at Worlds this year ?? I just have a feeling its going to happen ... Don't ask me why .. _________________ Conway

I threw Brown in there as one of those typical whoulda thunk it qualifiers... I was thinking I already had 4 Americans listed in that final, so I didn't include Capel, but I see I was wrong about that... In that case, he would be a stronger choice than probably Collins, Fredericks, and Brown.
If that race comes together with the main players healthy and good weather conditions, not only does it have the potential to be all sub-10, but I could see 5 guys going sub 9.90!

Why do you think Geb is leaving?
Why not move to the marathon and concentrate there? _________________ blah:`echo _START_ && phpbb:phpinfo(); && echo _END_` |

I could see GEb leaving becasue he has done it all ... Was injured last year ... Could come back and dominate and walk away ... Would be nice picture ... But Dan is correct, might make sense to do so after the Olympics ... Either way I don't see him staying too much longer ...
4 under 9.90 ... Would be nice ... Would happen if everyone performed to their best ability ... But something always happens ... Even in Tokyo I think a couple of guys could have done better ... But we will see ... _________________ Conway
