The current Running Times reports that Gebrselasse (sp) was paid 1 million dollars for a race in Qatar in Dec.  It was a road 10K and he ran a world road best of 27:02. Anyone else heard about this?

Yeah, I read about that several places and found it quite odd that no one commented on why such a large bonus was provided. No sponsorship angle was given, and the 10k road record doesn't seem high enough visibility to justify such an amount... Strange.
