Hmmm ... I won't say that MJ avoided the pitfalls of stardom since he walked ever so closely in the footsteps of one Carl Lewis (who ironically he didn't like) ... But .... He did stick with what worked for him ... All the way from coach, training, shoes, etc ...
Ya just don't change horses in teh middle of a stream !!! _________________ Conway

That's what I was referring to personal traits. What he avoided was getting sidetracked by the stuff that takes away from the focus on performing. You didn't hear about him being unhappy with his shoe contract (Greene) or who was training which training partners (Montgomery) or who should run which leg on the relay (Bailey). He was completely focused on himself ... to a fault. By the same token, Jordan is probably one of the most selfish basketball players ever, but that's what it takes to elevate yourself above the competition, many of whom share your physical abilities.
