The shot putters have been going absolutly nuts lately, with three US men throwing farther than 71'10" at the Pre Classic.
1 Kevin Toth USA 22.19m (72-09 3/4)
2 Adam Nelson USA 21.95m (72-00 1/4)
3 John Godina USA 21.91m (71-10 3/4)
Add in the 73'10.25" throw Nelson had a week or so ago and that's enough to even get a distance fan like me keeping an eye on the throwing ring.

I should mention that I took a closer look at the Mt. Hood CC shot facility (site of the adidas meet) while there for 2 days over the weekend, and the image I had in mind earlier about it possibly sloping downhill does not appear to be correct. There's a lot of sloping stuff around it to throw a quick glance off visually, but the sector appears perfectly level.
