And don't forget this one's on TV tonight. I have missed all of them except the meet two weeks ago, so I've missed out a lot concerning the viewing.

Are those PR's for Lawrence and Gaines?? Four under 11 flat, not bad!! Gaines must have given back quite a bit in the last 20m after her start, which was by far the quickest.

I believe it was "only" a season best for Gaines but a PR for Lawrence. Looks like a heck of a race!! 10.88 to 10.94 for 1st through 4th. Maybe most impressive is that we actually got to see the double duel materialize between Marion and Zhanna. Marion seems to be stuck right around 10.90 this year, so if Zhanna can get consistent in the low 10.8's, she may well be able to mount a real challenge.

Dare I say, Tim's talk seems to have finally rattled Mo... Or, it could just be coincidence. Smile

Oh yeah, results are entered for the meet. My paltry two athletes competing surprisingly only dropped me 3 spots, and Micah's excellent showing only improved him one spot. Steve's trend of moving up every week finally came to an end, but at least he held even at #4. Pedro looks to be making a strong push to crack 10,000 points by the end of the contest! Surprised

Great women's 100 ... Much closer than expected through about 5th ... Marion won but has not been dominant this year ... Was a good racae for Zhanna coming back from the previous debacle ... Even ethough she didn't win it should stoke her confidence ...

Men's 100 ... Man !!! Mo should just go home ... Not sure what he did over the 3 week break but he has not been the same sprinter since ... He was much better during the first part of the season .. He needs to call it a day ... Let his body rest til about mid October ... Then get ready for next season ...

Women's 400 - Guevara has become so consistent she is now almost ho hum ... Too bad as she is having the best season of any femal athlete in the world this year and I hope she gets recognized for it ...

Same for Felix Sanchez ... Not one of my favorites cause he turned his back on this country, but his season is phenominal ...

That men's 10,000 was AWESOME !!!! Should be the deepest race ever ... If not should be very close ... THAT is what the sport is about ...

Something that shouldn't be over looked is how well Krummenacker ran. Even though he was fourth, he went 1:43.92, which according to the results on the meets site is a new personal best for him. The thing that has impressed me most about his season this year is that he has done one thing that no mid or long distance American runner has done in a while, achieved consistancy. He has been running well since he set the US record in the 1k indoor (possibly before that). And has done nothing but get better all year. Whatever kind of training he is doing it must be exteremely well planned out. This is going on the 6th or 7th month stait that he's been performing well and to achieve that level for that sustained an amount of time is really impressive.

On a sprint note. For what I think is the first time all year Tim Mongomery actually won in a race against top notch compotition. Although I can't say what exactly I think of the fact that he was the only person under 10 secs. Was he really that much better than everyone else, were the conditions slow, or did he just sort of win by default.

Some interesting results. Edwards 7th in the TJ. Must have been a heck of a race in the women's 3000. Devers back again in sub 12.5. Download the PDF file from the IAAF site and check the Grand Prix standings!! Montgomery on top by a point in the 100m now!! I'll let you sprint specialists hash that one over. Really looking forward to the telecast tonight!!

I'm jazzed!! If I could run I'd take a trip down to Dan's just to run some of those hills. But I guess that would also preclude I was in shape to do that. On the other hand, maybe its just because I saw the Vin Diesel movie this afternoon. Surprised

WOW Surprised

I had some pretty solid finishes but only moved up one spot. I can't find a full list of the results but I did read the report on the IAAF sight. With Fantasy track back in full swing and the impending start of Team Guru it sure is hard to care that the baseball players didn't strike today. Laughing

I also noticed those results DG and Paul mentioned. Another that I would add is Suzy once again failing to beat Regina despite a faster season's best... Both 200's had notable performances, too.

Micah, here's results for each event:

Watched the meet last night ... And again this morning .. Surprised ... And some thoughts ...

Krummenaker is the next great American middle distance runner ... He has learned how to race !!! He is in position in every race with an opportunity to win (or place high) ... The male revelation for this season ... While everyone was putting their hopes on Webb, K slipped in !!!

Mo Greene ... I watched his race in Brussells ... And went back and watched all of his races this season ... Mo got bigger and more sluggish during the break ... He ran well before the break and it is my belief that he felt he could work on the conditioning he missed and still come back and dominate ... Backfired ... His turnover has been reduced and he is getting his butt kicked ... But worse is the psychological results ... Chambers, MLF, Montgomery, they have that look in their eyes that they believe he can be taken ... And so does Mo ... The physical posture of the athletes from first half to second half is interesting to look at ... You can see the difference ...

Similar for Marion Jones ... The aura is gone ... She is vulnerable and the others now believe it ... Zhanna will win her share in the future ... And I predict that a youngster (Like Lawrence or someone else) will come along without the baggage of constantly losing to her ande also take her scalp !!!

Ana Guevara has quietly come along and become an awesome athlete ... She will be under 49 next year and should be favored for gold ... While Cathy Freeman took the year off and Katherine Merry was forced to do so through injury, Ana has laid claim to the best in the world ... And it will take a PR by Freeman or Merry to beat her at Worlds next year ... Guevara is running at a consistency level not seen since the 80's ... She will be very hard to beat ..

200 meters .. The IAAF is killing this and other events ... Both races were exciting and competetive ... And if the athletes had more opportunity to run them probably very fast ...

How old are Lawrence and P-Block? This is Lawrence's first pro year, right? If so, she could be challenging for the top spot in the very near future. She's got several things going for her: youth, consistency (at a high level), and steady progress.

Mo... I knew the switch from Nike to adidas would be a bad move... Spelled the end of Ato's career when he started becoming a spokesman for adidas' spike technology... :t-:
