He was right around 6 feet .. Maybe 5'11.5 or something ... But he did have long legs and was of better tan medium build .. Wasn't a big guy ... But wasn't smallish either ... I think that is why the 49ers thought he might work in football ... He may have looked small to some because his main rival was Greg Foster who was 6'3 ...

OK .. We're about an hour away from the start of theh primary competition ... Does Tim Montgomery win ??? And in a decent time ?? Or does he ocntinue to lose despite the absense of Mo ???

Does Alvin Harison begin his reign as MJ's heir apparent ??? All he has aot do is run around 44.50 or better ... This event has really lagged and needs someone to step up ...

No ElG at 1500 but lots of Kenyans including Lagat and Chirchir ... Krummenaker is here as well (so is Lassiter) ... Hate to see K here as he has been doing well over 800 Crying or Very sad ... I think he should stay focused ....

I htink Larry WAde steps up here and beats Garcia and Johnson ... Perhaps getting his first sub 13 ...

Interesting ... No Marion, but P-Block is here ... I look for a fast time from her ... Wonder why no match up here ???

And what we have all been waiting for -- a hot women's 800 !!! Mutola, Teter, Ceplak, Langerholc ... Can you say 1:56 ???

I don't see Montgomery losing to anyone in that field...

Was Garcia a late add? I don't recall seeing his name listed previously, but maybe I missed it.

I was also disappointed to see Marion not matching up in the 100, if for no other reason than she's scored the vast majority of the points for my team and she can't let me down now... Smile

Alvin has to be considered the favorite, but that isn't exactly an accolade with the current state of the 400. Imagine the damage a good 200/400/800 runner could do right now! Other than Frankie's 19.99, nothing remotely impressive has been handed in thus far in those 3 events.

You bet I can! I would say 1:56 low, maybe eevn 1:55 high...

OK .. How about 1:58 ???

Slower than we thought it would be .. But TETER wins !!!

1. Teter 1:58.13
2. Mutola 1:58.23
3. Ceplak 1:58.63

Looks like the stretch run was awesome ... Too bad this one won't be televised ... Crying or Very sad

Also the men's 400 is in and Alvin Harrison got his 44.5

1. Harrison 44.57
2. Byrd 44.82
3. Moncur 45.01

A little bit better race than we have seen lately ...

Nice call on the 400! Smile

I'm surprised Mutola lost to a 1:58... Must've been a bit of rust with hardly having run that event this year and just coming back down from the 1500. Teter seems to have cemented her claim to internationaly legit.

They seem to be very slow getting results posted compared to previous meets...

Mutola may have been affected by the 1500 last Friday .. But Teter was in the race too !!! So that may account some for the slow time ... But still gives Teter legitimacy for the win ... Suprisingly with both Teter and Mutola coming off a 1500 Ceplak still couldn't win ... But this (as well as her previous races) puts her with the elite middle distance runners ... I'd like ot see her slow down her racing over the next couple of weeks and focus on a meet to see what kind fo time she can push ... She has been running in every meet out there so far ...

P-Block runs a nice 10.91 ...

1. P-Block 10.91
2. Ferguson 11.10
3. Gaines 11.15

She dominated the field the same way that Marion has done in her races ... Could be a very interesting race when they get together .. So far their season are ver comparable with P-Block actually having a slight edge on the clock ...

Frankie is in Stockholm !!! REsults in on the trials in the men's 100 ... First heat won by Montgomery in 10.04 ... But the second heat was won by Frank Fredericks in 10.19 !!!! All of a sudden I am really looking forward to the men's 100 !!! Dare I say that Fredericks puts him in his place ??? Collins was second in heat 1 in 10.10 .. Williams second in heat 2 in 10.23 ... Others in the final are Zakari, Miller, Patton and Drummond ... How about Fredericks, Williams, Montgomery .. With Frank at 9.96 for the win !!!

Now I see why it took them so long to post the men's heat 2 10m results... They must've been busy fixing the heat 1 results! Here's what they orginally posted:

1 Jon DRUMMOND 68 USA 10,04 Q
2 Tim MONTGOMERY 75 USA 10,10 Q
3 Kim COLLINS 76 SKN 10,21 Q
4 Darvis PATTON 77 USA 10,24 q
5 Nobuhara ASAHARA 72 JPN 10,31 q
6 Coby MILLER 76 USA 10,35
7 Lenny MARTINEZ 78 SWE 10,67

Interesting men's 100 ...

Pos Name Born Nat Result

1 Tim MONTGOMERY 75 USA 10,08
2 Kim COLLINS 76 SKN 10,08
3 Bernard WILLIAMS 78 USA 10,14
4 Coby MILLER 76 USA 10,15
5 Frank FREDERICKS 67 NAM 10,16
6 Aziz ZAKARI 76 GHA 10,18
7 Jon DRUMMOND 68 USA 10,22
8 Darvis PATTON 77 USA 10,30

No Mo and Montgomery wins ... Evidently by the slimest of margins ... Looks like a fairly evenly contested race outside of the 1st two ... I still contend that Montgomery had his dream season last year and is now on the same road as Andre Cason .. I say he is a non-factor by '04 games ...

Tim's not giving me much material to refute your claims, so my response will be a tightly sealed set of lips...

That does look like it would have been a fun race to watch.

Ouch, not a good day for Dragilla.

Still waiting on the men's 1500 and 5k, and the women's high jump to conclude, then I can score this thing out and see if Micah's worst fears have come true... Smile

Just out of curiosity who are your three picks for the US 100 meter runners for Athens?

My picks:
Greene (on his way out he'll get bronze),
Bernard Williams (I just like him for no real good reason)
Justin Gatlin (He's young and is tearing up college in two years he could be a monster)

other leg of the 4X100 John Drummond (I can't leave out the man that originated the expression "butt naked last")

And before anyone kills me for my picks I just want to say these are merely guess I made to have fun I can not back any of them up and probably won't argue with anyone elses picks Wink

I'd hessitate to say that Krummenacker wasn't focusing on speed before. I'm pretty sure he has recently changed coaches and from what I understand really dedicated himself to his training. Something he admits to not doing previously. If you get a better coach and increase your focus on running well, you're going to improve. You get out of this sport what you put into it and recently David's put a lot more in than he had previously and we're seeing the results of that.
