I was worried this might happen, given some of the wacky spellings in the IAAF 2001 rankings tables and the possibility of name changes (marriage and what not). It was just brought to my attention that the listed ŠTEBLOVNIK-ČEPLAK, Jolanda in the women's 800 is none other than Jolanda Ceplak, who won the event in Athens. I'm sure many of you would have selected her for your roster for a mere 2730 points had you known it was the same person. I know I would've... (I was trying to figure out why she wasn't listed, but the actual reason didn't occur to me.)

So, I'll need to correct that in the results and update the scores. Has anyone noticed any similar discrepancies that I should know about?

Thanks,
Dan

p.s. 6 of you figured it out and selected her for your roster. Smile

I've seen that one written both ways. I don't know which is correct (I'm assuming you do! Smile ), but I'm guessing most people would be able to figure out that's the same person. The above example was a bit trickier, starting with a different letter and looking quite a bit different...

It is Urbas in English, and Urbas with a diactric sign right above the "s", and tilted to the right that indicates a soft s in Polish. It is slose see, but different in asignificant way.

Any idea why the IAAF listings, which seem to attempt the non-english spellings, would have it that way? That's what I pulled directly from. After all, my keyboard doesn't have that funny stuff on it. Smile

First, it should have been "it is close to 'see', but...
Last, when my browser has the default setting, it gives me (from the IAAF web site) a combined letter ce instead of the Polish soft s. However, when I use the Central European setting, the 'rea'l Polish soft s is displayed.

Ah, that could explain it. Didn't occur to me it would depend on browser regional settings... I suppose I should have looked into that before copying over 1400+ names... Sad
