So Paul, how'd it go?

I just noticed I missed a post of yours...

Did you end up at Lake O after Benson.

Yep. I transferred after first quarter freshman year. Sure seems like I was there longer than that... I had a few friends that went to Wilson.

Everything went well. Surgery was at 3 PM and I was back home by 9 PM. Doctor called this morning and told me I had a decent sized tear in my medial miniscus. I am spending a lot of time on the bed to keep the leg elevated.

Glad to hear it went well. Here's to a speedy recovery!

Felt well enough to show up again on Tues at 6 PM. Listened to some great Tryon Creek running stories from Kevin. Greg, do you show up much on Tuesday?? It seems better than Wed for me because I can at least watch the whole workout.

Oh, yeah, Kevin can tell the stories. I have been skipping the track lately. I'm kind of hit and miss for the speed work since I'm not racing this year. I'll miss the Wednesday night run today also. Did they do the pizza thing last night? That's always fun.

I haven't gone to any of the post workout functions, after all, these people hardly know me. But I think they all go to Flying Pie afterword. A couple of people there didn't workout because they were still recovering from a half marathon last weekend.

Nice thing about Tryon is you can do a whole month of workouts there and not repeat a single one!! And some of the surfaces are good enough to do even some speedwork there. Dan, have you been there since they redid the bike path up to Lewis and Clark Trail?? The asphalt job was very well done. I hope they do the same to that portion of the bike path that goes down to Lake Oswego. As the sign says, your lottery dollars at work!! Laughing

The last time I was on the L&C side of the path, maybe 5 years ago, it was in average shape and didn't look overly new, so probably not. Can't say I've ever seen the point in running in the best park anywhere only to run on paved paths...

I tend to stay on the bike paths during the winter months because of the traction. The trails get too sloppy to suit me. Many times for me, the evenness of a surface is more important than the softness. Though the horse loops, with their gravel subsurface, tend to stay together pretty well, even in the worst of weather.
Another great thing about Tryon is the massive canopy, which stays pretty cool even on 90 deg days.

We always hunted out the muddiest and most treacherous trails. Smile

I think that would be just a bit too adventuresome for my knees.

Greg, I joined the club as a member yesterday at the Lake Oswego workout. I think it will be awhile before I get adventurous enough to do one of the scrambles. Seems like a number of people picked up poison oak on the last one!! Sad

I heard there was some poison oak out there. Well, I guess if the choice is lay on the couch and watch re-runs of Baywatch, or get out there and risk the occasional case of itchy skin, then I'm trimming my nails and running with the pack in the woods.

We never hit poison oak in Oaks Bottom. We always have a beer though...

Speaking of which, any of you in the Portland/LO area are cordially invited to the Lake Oswego HS alumni run (open to anyone) on August 20th at 6:30 pm. This year's event is being held across the road at the Junior High (much easier course), as the high school is currently being re-built.

Entry fee is $5 and benefits the HS Cross Country team. I hope to be in better shape for this year's outing than I was last year... Surprised
