Someone confident in their picks? Smile

Another athlete I thought of that wasn't heard from last year but may not be retired is Svetlana Masterkova in the 1500. Anyone know what her plans are? It just occurred to me that Wilson Kipketer is another who didn't compete in 2001. I think we can rule out a Michael Johnson comeback... Any old timers looking to pull a JJK or Mike Powell return? Smile

Decent looking team Conway. You might place a close second to mine.

IT SUCKS TO GET OLD!!!
Just as the stress fracture is about healed I rip my calf muscle. I'm not sure if it is a pull or a tear but it has me on crutches. I was in defensive tactics training yesterday and had to put my 45 year old self up against a 25 year old body building martial arts instructor. It got ugly. So maybe the real world training can commence again in a couple of weeks.

Ouch, sorry to hear that. Sad Is it feeling any better?

I banged myself up the other day while lifting weights... I think I bruised some ribs while going too low on the angled leg press. I always thought my knees would go long before my rib cage... Go figure.

We've got over 50 people signed up for the Fantasy League now, although a few haven't yet confirmed their accounts. Runner's World is aware of it and should be taking a look at it, so I'm hopeful they'll make mention of it and draw a nice influx of participation. At least 100 players would be good, but I'd like to see 2-3x that...

Wow ... Guess it was a pretty decent idea Smile ... Maybe I should have more of those ... Yes a 100 would be nice .. I was hoping for 25 or more .. This is gonna be fun !!! Perhaps we should start a Fantasy League post or chat area ... Just a thought Smile

If we can get enough people joining in the forum chat, I'd be happy to set up a new forum for Fantasy T&F League talk (it would be in addition to the Running/Training/Health/Other main forums). I just don't want to set it up without the demand and have it be a ghost town...

Woo-hoo, now we can really let the games begin!

Runner's World daily bookmark

By my clock, today's news was posted only a few minutes ago, and there have already been several new people signing up for the Fantasy T&F League. Thanks RW! Smile

Could not we have a winter mini league? Of course, it would be very shaky when it comes to the results because many athletes will not compete, but the level of randomness may only add to the fan.

We could, but my gut feeling is that it wouldn't be worth the (my) effort to try and figure out participants, events, and scoring. What participant lists would we go by? Would we know in advance with enough certainty what events will be contested? What about non-standard distances, how would they be scored? Would we re-weight the points system for performance levels to account for banked tracks and tight turns? All things that make me think it would be a big headache...

However, I do still intend to do a trial run of an indoor meet for everyone to see how things will play out.

Hello everyone i have just recently joined and i am glad to see that the sport of track and field is keeping up with the rest of the other sports. I have been a distance runner all my life and I am a hardcore T&F fan. I am excited about this league and can not wait for it to begin. I am in agreement about a trial run....I am new to all this fantasy stuff and would like to see how it will work.

Hi Dan
I seem to have forgotten my password to the track and field game thing, could you please email it to me when you get time.

Cheers
