When a person increases their mileage why do some get blood in their stool and what can be done to correct it?

Other than the fictional account in Once a Runner, I've never actually heard of mileage doing this. It's basically just micro tears in the lining of whatever is the proper medical term, which I've been told is harmless and heals up quickly on its own. However, I believe it could be indicative of something else, such as internal bleeding due to too much aspirin ingestion, for example. If you're concerned, best to visit a doctor, although you probably won't enjoy the test they will do... Wink
