First DNF from Regina Jacobs. Big surprise was she actually competed. Now there is a report that Suzy fell down in her heat and DNF in the semis. Sarah didn't advance either. Solid season for her. She has to be happy.

This might be the worst world championships ever for the US. Only 1 400 guy Pettigew is in the finals. Only Krummenacker advanced in past the first round in the 800 and didn't make it past the semis.

Nice sweep in the 100 but Greene may be hurt for the 200 and what is going to happen in the 4 x 100?

Hope Goucher, Broe and Abdi, Culpepper make it to the finals.

It does sound bad when you put it that way, but many of those have been weak events of late. When you rely on one individual to carry a country in an event, such as Jacobs in the 1500 (Suzy hasn't exactly been a major factor in international championships), it only takes one person having a bad day to end in failure. The 800 is similar for men. Since Kenah's big breakthrough, it's been a pretty sad event in the US, although Everett had a few good runs. The men's 400 does surprise me. Where'd the dominating US depth go all of a sudden? I suppose Tyree not having bad allergies in Eugene and the Harrison's and Jerome's all being healthy would have helped, but watching 45 second winning times in Europe just isn't all that impressive. Greene said a few weeks back that he didn't plan on running the 200 because of his knee.
