Does anyone know of a VO2 max test that I can do myself on a treadmill?

I found descriptions of two tests on the net, one is the Bruce test:

I am confused by the units they use for treadmill slope when describing these tests. One refers to slope in degrees, and the other in percent. How does that relate to the standard treadmills that are in most gyms? The ones in my gym just go from 0 - 15 but do not give units. Is that the percent incline?

In any case, on either of these tests whatever units you use for incline you have to end up going past 15, so how is it possible to get that far in the test? Are there some special treadmills that can be inclined much further?

If anyone has done either of these please let me know as it has me very confused.

Yes. There is a VO2 max calculator on Brianmac's website. You simply put in a race time for any distance and you get the number. It won't work if you put in 9 seconds for the 100m because it would say that your VO2 max would be past 90.

Yeah, it's the second link that Indeurr posted. One more thing, try running outside. I used to run on the treadmill and it sucks. Nothing is more worth it than running outside whether it'd be raining, snowing, or whatever. If you also train outside, your times will decrease a lot faster. There is no such thing as a treadmill race either, so I suggest you get used to running outside.
