I hope that after the meet in Rome, my virtual team will get into the top 10 – I do not believe that my New Jersey will do so well during the world championships. I need a boost before the championships, and I do hope that not too many athletes from my team will drop—out after the trip to Japan in August.

My virtual team in Rome (A.A.):
men:
100 m:
Atkins and Martina, again; and Olusoji Fasuba
1500 m:
Lukezic, again
110 m H:
Olijar and Oliver, again
JT: Fransesco Pignata (ITA) (“Where is live, there is hope”)
women:
100 m:
Edwards and Felix, and Gevaert again; as well as Tezdzhan Naimova
100 m H:
Powell and Lamalle, again
HJ:
DiMartino, again; and Xingjuang Zheng
400 m:
Ilona Usovic(h)

Welcome to the new World Order:
Isinbayeva may mess up because it will be a strange new world for her facing Stuczynski; on the other hand, her adrenaline pumping, she may go for an overkill like a 5.10 meters new world record.
No one has beaten Isinbayeva in the recent years in spite of that both Pyrek and Rogowska of Poland could have (PB's--wise) beat Isinbayeva on her worse day. On the other hand, why to spoil surprise: they may have been trying to pull--off a fast one like two Kenyans did pull--off against a Moroccan (El-Gerrouj—correct my spelling, if wrong, please. He has not been running for a while.).

I've got some holes, too.

100 - Atkins
1500 - Komen, Simotwo
110h - Doucoure, Moore
Javelin - Arvidsson, Ivanov, Vasilekvskis

100 - Edwards
400 - Hastings, Trotter
High Jump - Di Martino, Vlasic

I think I can squeeze 1400 pts out of that group, still.

What's up with Virgina Powell? She DNF'd a few races back and hasn't lined up since. Did she get hurt?

I see Nick Symmonds is entered in the 800. That ought to be the biggest race of his life thus far.

Results are in:

http://run-down.com/fantasy/index.php?go=full_results

My guess was close ... I picked up 1364 pts, enough to move up one spot. The leader continues to put up some very impressive scores.

Ouch, not a good showing by Symmonds in his first (that I know of) major international competition...

Random observation: The women's High Jump might be the single most boring event ever. The same same athletes clear the same height every single meet, or so it seems.

It appears that the Men's Javelin is only earning points based on place.

Is this correct?

I think I speak for all of us when I say, thanks for fantasy track.

Yeah, I may have to adjust that for next time we have the javelin contested... That or go back and tweak the WR comparison level that the points are based on, as no one is getting close enough to earn performance bonus points. Winning marks are something like 85% of WR level.

Opinions?

(The jav was added as a new Fantasy event this year, so there wasn't much of a test run of the quality of scoring.)

Tero's mark at Gaz de France was actually over 91% of the WR.

Moore tops in the 110H. Mad Man, is he getting revenge on me for cutting him. Embarassed

Anwar Moore 518.41 points at a cost of 638,
dang quite a steal for those smart enough to have him on their team.

Moore is my leading scorer thus far... Of course, he's the #2 scorer overall, so that's somewhat of a given.

To revisit the Jav scoring.

Is this something that can be fixed?
