Hey Ya'll. Remember me? I started back to running Jan 1 after giving the broken foot 12 full weeks to recover. So far I'm just shuffling along at 10:30 plus for 2 miles at a time about every other day. My plan is to do that until I have 15 two mile runs in the bank and then I'll up it to 3 miles. After I do 15 of those I'll see what 4 miles feels like. There is no magical reason behind those numbers.....they just sound right.

I'm not worrying about pace or form or cadence or any of that. I'm just doing whatever feels right for that day. I'm getting reeeeeally back to basics.

And....so far.....so good.

Good to hear!

One suggestion, from my own personal experience with bouncing back from that sort of injury: Don't get too caught up in rigid goals. It's good to have a plan of attack, but be willing to change it on the fly if necessary. Trying to stick to the plan no matter what will increase the risk of reinjury.

Oh yeah! None of those numbers are set in stone. That is just a guideline. Mostly though I'll pay attention to how I feel and ere on the side of caution. For example, I've done two miles 12 times and feel like I can go on up to three miles. But I'm going to wait until I get three more two milers before I increase. I picked the 15 run number as time to evaluate, not to automatically trigger an increase.

I've got seven 3 mile runs under my belt and everything feels good. In fact my pace today was a 9:51 which is the fastest I've done since my last race back last summer.

I wasn't rying to run faster...it just happened.

Are you icing down after running? If not, I would suggest doing so for preventative purposes.
