Nothing posted yet, but it looks like that's where it'll be...

Provisional entry lists are posted, but only as a PDF file...

http://www.tsiklitiria.org/index.htm

I've got Thomas and Zakari in the 100 and Ngeny in the 1500. Wow, I hope that's a very incomplete list of entries, otherwise I'm going to be slipping a few spots in the standings...

I would guess most people won't score too many points... To start with, there's no men's or women's 5000, as well as women's 400, 1500 and HJ - that only leaves 5 events out of 10. The other events don't have the same quality of the field as Golden League meets, either... It looks like I won't do much better than you... But then, last year I scored a big fat zero for this meet, so I'm set to improve Very Happy

True, you set a pretty high standard for futility in this meet last year. Smile

A lot of rosters will look a whole lot better when the US Trials are over...

Just finished posting and scoring them. Smile

Not much movement overall, but we've got a new leader. I actually managed to move up 6 spots with only 3 so-so scorers. Those who did manage to score significant points this meet jumped several spots.

My big regret so far is not sticking with Yiampoy in the 800. I had him in and out of my roster and finally decided to go with Krummenacker and a few other switches. Sad

Interesting how much the long shots are dominating the score/cost ratio so far this year. Only two athletes in the top-20 with a cost over 1,000, and they're just barely over, considering the scale goes up over 10,000.

I imagine that'll change a bit when we get into the bigger meets...

At any rate, I finally met the goal of making the favorites a not so obvious choice. Smile

Well I moved up 20 places !!!! And I'm really liking my choice of Yampoi in the 800... Wink ...

I think things are going to get real good here once everyone is in Europe ...

I think I moved Yiampoy in and out of my roster 3 or 4 times. I put him back in after seeing how he did at the Kenyan trials, but after getting burned in the 800 last year, I thought twice for some reason. Oh well, I just need to sweep the 100 one of these meets and all will be cool. Smile

I'd be stoked if I moved up 20 spots one of these meets...

Yeah, well I moved from 97 to 77 ... Still need a lot of movement to get in real contention ... I just need for the Trials to end ... Sad

In hindsight, it would've added an interesting twist to the competition to have one of the meets be the US Trials.

a) It would guarantee that each event would be contested.

b) The sprints would be the highest level competition of any meet, the distances the worst.

c) US athletes only ... duh.

That combination of factors would require some extra care in assembling rosters, as you wouldn't want to tip too heavily to one extreme (domestic or Europe) or the other.

If you include the US Trials, why not the Kenyan, Russian, German etc. national championships ? Razz

Re Athens: as I expected, few people scored big points for this meet. I think I did OK to slip down by only 2 places. Lausanne should be better...

General contestant familiarity and depth of overall competition. Plus, the US Trials' timing seems to affect the European circuit participation more than that of other countries.

Hmmm ... Adding the Trials would definitley been interesting ... I'm not sure it would have affected too many rosters though as everyone tends to carry quite a few American sprinters and hurdlers anyway ...

I do think, though, that the scoring will change appreciably once the Trials have come and gone ...

I decided to plug in scores for my athletes competing in the US Trials, just to see what sort of total I would've amassed. 1,000 - 1,200 is usually a pretty darn solid score...

100m:
Maurice Greene - 186.41
Shawn Crawford - 144.17

200m:
Shawn Crawford - 164.90
John Capel - 59.23

800m:
David Krummenacker - 110.38

1500m:
Alan Webb - 159.00

100m:
Lauryn Williams - 120.77
Gail Devers - 109.65

400m:
Sanya Richards - 156.58
DeeDee Trotter - 128.21
Monique Henderson - 98.30

Total = 1437.60

Ugh.

You too can play along...
