A music post featuring a discussion on Rap and I missed it !!!!!! Wow ... And two, not one but two, Oregonians that actually like Rap ... I must've fallen asleep and woken up in an alternate universe .. LOL ...

My musical taste bounces all over the place ... I like some Rap, but not much new stuff ... Of the new stuff I like Nappy Roots and Outkast ... Old School Rap was once a big favorite - happy talk about parties and havin fun ... But the youngsters have mostly turned me off with their talk of "street life" ... In between Old school and New school I like Dr Dre ..

Love Jazz ... Have lots of Bob James, 4-play, Joe Sample and the like ..

Grew up on Funk and when I was competing would often take along some Parliament and Bootsy's Rubber Band ...

And of course some R&B although I like very little current R&B ... My taste goes more to music like Tony Toni Tone, Blackstreet, Mint condition and Guy ...

But mostly I collect Oldl school R&B and Rock ... Have lots of stuff like Paul McCartney and Wings, the Beatles, Earth Wind and Fire, Blood Sweat & Tears, America, Seals & Croft, and Pleasure ...

Is that mixed up enough for ya ???

I am a big Crusaders fan. Just found out album "1" and the "2nd Crusade" are available on a Japanese import. I will also pick up "Best of the Jazz Crusaders" which covers their mid-sixties period.

I recognize the green cover. I haven't listened to these for decades. I used to have them on vinyl. I'll have to add that one to my must get list.

I'm a little light in my jazz collection. Got the Yellowjackets, Dave Sanborn and Tom Scott right now. But back in the days of 8 tracks (Conway and Paul will now what I'm talking about) I enjoyed Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Weather Report, Dave Brubeck and Grover Washington among others. Good stuff!

No Alabama or George Strait!

Although I do enjoy country it would be the kind that doesn't get played much on what I refer to as "top 40" country. I liked bluegrass before the Oh Brother soundtrack came out. In fact I went to bluegrass competitions in north Georgia when I was growing up. On the country side my tastes run to Lucinda Williams, Hoyt Axton and old 1960s stuff.

With all these trips down memory lane I just made an interesting connection. Jaco Pastorius (Weather Report bass player) played on Joni Mitchell's Hejira CD. That guy was a true innovator!

Conway, I found a digitally remastered CD of Weather Report's "Heavy Weather" in a sale rack. Needless to say I bought it. Very Happy

Not even the best song on that album .. What about "So Fresh, So Clean" ??

Course their best album was Aquemini !!! How bout "Skew it on the Bar-B" ??

And then there's "Way You Move" on the current album !!!!
