Please share your suggestions/advice for the best way to prep for Army APFT (primarily the 2 mile run):
order of test-
2 min of push-ups: do as many as possible
2 min of sit-ps: again do as many as possible
2 mil run for time
10 min of rest between each event

last one I did-last week:
69 push ups/85 sit-ups/13:16 2 mile--I know I can do a lot better; I want to shave about 60 seconds from my run time

Let's see, you posted duplicate topics to two forums and emailed me the identical question. You've sufficiently annoyed me to the point I won't be answering it... :t-: Let's hope someone else is in a more forgiving mood than I.

As a former Air Force officer I will be more forgiving with a soldier than our esteemed pontificator. Wink

What is your level of training now? For endurance you should be doing a 4 miler every week and for the speed aspect some 400s at 90 seconds would give you some leg speed to improve your time. I would also suggest some runs that "bridge the gap" between the speed workouts and endurance workouts. (same kind of topic we have going with Jafar)

You want to improve on a 13:16 which is a 6:38 pace. Try a "mini" tempo run of a one mile warm up, a mile and a half at sub 6:45 and then a mile cool down. Good luck.
