For a second consecutive year, UNICEF is partnering with the ING New York City Marathon, to fundraise on behalf of the world's children and provide the life saving care that is needed. Members of Team UNICEF are active citizens running toward the day when zero children die from preventable causes, an attainable goal by which UNICEF offers the strength, knowledge, and efficiency to accomplish success.

Each day, 24,000 children die from preventable causes and each member of Team UNICEF has committed to raising a minimum of $3,500 to help UNICEF achieve the day of zero preventable deaths of children worldwide. The members of Team UNICEF believe that zero preventable deaths is the finish line.

What does your $3,500 buy?

- 7 water pumps, which will help keep 7 different communities safe from deadly waterborne illnesses.
- 350 HIV test kits, allowing 3,500 mothers to take the first step to preventing the spread of mother-to-child HIV/AIDS.
- 15 school-in-a-box kits, helping 1200 children receive temporary schooling after an emergency situation.

For more than 60 years, UNICEF has been the world's leading international children's organization doing whatever it takes to provide lifesaving nutrition, clean water, education, protection and emergency response to children around the world. UNICEF calls for the day when the world can roll back the number of children dying each day from preventable causes from 24,000 to zero. That's zero children killed by malaria and measles, poisoned by unclean water, lost for a lack of safe shelter, or fallen prey to malnutrition. As the organization that has saved more children's lives than any other humanitarian organization, UNICEF is committed to doing whatever it takes until zero children die of preventable causes.
