The Fighting Warthogs are assembled.

Using a very complicated and highly secret mathmatical formula I borrowed from NASA I have assembled what is without a doubt the strongest and most awe inspiring fantasy track team in the civilized world. You will notice that this year I have abandonded the practice of putting all my hopes on a small group of big guns and instead I have assembled a veritable army of athletes.

Let the games begin and the trash talk flow.

Your numbers are definitely up; let's hope the participation level of the squad is, too...

You've got a few similar names to my super secret list. I believe your selection formula was to focus on the unpronounceable names? When my squad is unveiled, they'll line up 27 deep and leave a mere $1 on the table. I've got another 12 wish list athletes that I just can't seem to make room for, but they sure are tempting...

To be quite honest I have no idea who some of those people are. I did my selections based mostly on math. I wanted three athletes for each event so with 52000 available points that means I had to average around 2100 points per athlete. So I wrote down all the athletes that were valued between about 1100 to 3000. Then I went to the IAAF rankings and picked the three highest ranked athletes that were closest to the 2100 value. When in doubt I went with a European, thinking they would be the most likely to run a lot of the meets.

The weakness to that method of course is that I don't know who might be injured, who might be planning only a limited number of meets or who might have run off to join the circus and ain't running anything this year.

I can't wait to see how this plays out.

Wow, that will indeed be interesting to see how it plays out. Quite a unique selection process!

I put in a set of athletes but I know my roster will change - probably considerably I took a first shot at it and kind of waffled back and forth on a few need to do some more research... If I ever get the time

Yeah I will have to get in the war room this weekend and barricade myself in and get it along with the training plans I need together...

Speaking of that - I know a while ago you were talking about posting training plans in the training section did you want any of what I had or were we still going to put them on the board

Conway, it may be a screwy way to pick a team but how can I do any worse than the last couple of years? Shocked

I guess the alternative would be to do serious research into current fitness levels, recent perfomances, entry lists........naaaaaaah...too much work.
