My XC coach suggested to the entire team that we lift during the summer in addition to our running. But, left one unanswered question: What does should we lift? I know one should lift 2-3 times to get anything out of lifting but I'd hate to do it on the wrong day. What day do you all think I should lift? My running schedule is as follows
Sunday: Rest
Monday: Long day
Tuesday: Long tempo run (fast)
Wednesday: Long, critical threshold run (medium run)
Thursday: short Tempo day (fast)
Friday: Short, critical threshold run
Saturday: timed mile + long run
Sunday: rest
The school gym that I joined is open from about 6-8:30 pm everyday except Sunday
In addition, should the run be done before or after lifting. and how soon after/before?

Always lift after running, unless it's a very light workout day, in which case it doesn't much matter. Other than that, just space out the lifting days so you get a day of rest in between.
