I am a competetive runner and I was wondering if pilates would be a good secondary workout for me. I think I once heard that pilates was not good for runners, but I wanted to know what other people thought. Please help

If I understand the Pilates concept correctly it is supposed to increase strength and flexibility in the core abdominal muscles. Seems like that would be beneficial for runners.

I've done Pilates before, and my impression was the same as Micah's. It's like hatha yoga, without any spiritual aspect, and with a greater emphasis on core muscles. I'm sure it would help as long as it's not overdone to the point where it interferes with running workouts, just like any other secondary training.
