If there are any athletes missing from the '03 lists (i.e. didn't compete last year or not well enough to get ranked in the top 100) in the chosen events, please post them here along with a predicted level (ranked athlete) they would be equivalent to for this year.

1. Chojecka Lidia'2004: in her case I believe the reason of omission is very simple; she has changed her last name about a dozen times from Chojecka to Okninska--Chojecka, to Okninska, and, now, back to Chojecka.
Bergen Bislett Games - Bergen (NOR)Friday, June 11, 2004

PREDICTED RANKING: TOP 10: 8_th, and Olympic Final

Official Result
Women - 1500m

Pos Athlete Nat Mark

1 Lishchynska Iryna UKR 4:03.76
2 Cioncan Maria ROM 4:04.17
3 Legesse Meskerem ETH 4:04.88
4 Chojecka Lidia POL 4:04.92
source: www.iaaf.org
2. Chyla, Lukasz'2004 in 100 m
__He is the best Polish 100 m runner since Woronin. He is 23 years old. His PB from before two years ago is 10.21 seconds. Last year, he was injured. However, this year he has made the WIC'04 60 m semifinal, and did not qualify to the final after running one of, if not the, slowest race of the season. He is without a doubt a better 100 m sprinter than Urbas or Jedrusinski, and he is much more consistent than Urbas. He began this season by running 100 m, with 0.0 wind, in 10.23 seconds.

PREDICTED RANKING: TOP 50: _45_and Olympic Quaterfinal or better . . .

A few athletes missing (mainly the Russian ones who seem to have improved a LOT over the winter)....

Women's 400m
Olesya Krasnomovets - World Indoor silver; opened her season with 50.19 (previous outdoor best of 53.31!!). Indoor best of 50.65.

Olgo Kotlyarova - Ran 49.94 in her first race of the season and ran a sub-50 split for the Russian relay team indoor in Budapest.

Cathy Freeman - why is she still on the lists?! She's retired!!

Donna Fraser - 4th in Sydney Olympics (PB of 49.79). Hasn't raced since 2001 through injury, but has bounced back this year to run a PB of 23.05 in the 200m and has ran 51.49 in the 400m.

Yekaterina Bikert - another fast improving Russian. She's a hurdles specialist but recently ran a big PB of 51.26.

Fani Halkia - like Bikert, she's a hurdles specialist but she ran a Greek national record in Budapest indoors (51.6Cool. She's already taken 2 seconds off her 400mH PB this year after just two races.

Jearl Miles-Clark - the legend!! How come she's missing?!

Women's 5000m
Liliya Shobukhova - 3000m specialist, but may compete in some 5k's. Recently improved her 3000m PB by 20seconds and currently heads the world lists in that event.

Derartu Tulu - another legend! Although she's a bit old now, she ran a great 14:46 in Bergen the other night.

Meselech Melkamu - one of the many young Ethiopians. She's still a junior but recently ran 15:00. She might be focusing on 1500's this year, but she could dabble in a few 5k's too.

Ayelech Worku - young(ish) Ethiopian with a best of 15:04.56 this season.

Can't think of many more, but if I do I'll post them here.[/b]

Chyla, just today, ran legal 10.20 seconds.

Not sure if I am missing something - but can not seem to find Asafa Powell (JAM) in the 200m list - he is in the 100 - just not the 200 (unless I am blind) ???

More athletes missing from the lists:
- Kostas Kenderis in men's 200 (nuff said)
- Paula Radcliffe in women's 5000 (ditto)
- Obadele Thompson in men's 100 (good comeback this year, has already run a 10.14 and a wind-aided 10.01)
- Yuliya Nesterenko in women's 100 (ran an 11.02 yesterday in Greece, bronze medal in world indoor 60)
- Olga Kotlyarova and Olesya Krasnomovets in women's 400 and Fani Chalkia in women's 400 hurdles (mentioned by Jon earlier, but I see they're still missing). They have already run 49.94, 50.19 and 54.16 this season, respectively.
- Gulnara Samitova in women's 1500 and/or 5000 (7th in the World Champs last year at 5000, bronze medal in this year's World Indoors 1500, won Euro Cup at 3000 last weekend)

I wouldn't necessarily want to put all the above people on my team roster, but other people might...

Another one missing is Veronica Campbell (11.06 this year at 100).
Dan, are you actually going to add all these athletes to the database, or were you asking for no particular reason? Wink There's only 2 days left till the entry deadline !

I've added most of the above, but I've officially tired of it ... so the athlete lists are set for '04. Want someone else on the list? Too bad. Call them up and give them grief for not competing last year...
