___There will be no men's 100 m in the Golden League, but there will be 200 m. I guess, the IAAF is trying to promote the declining event. I hope that I will be able to get some points out of either injury-prone Urbas (19.98 and 20.31 in 1999, and 20.39 since 1999), or starting-a-little Jedrusinski.

Whoa, that's a surprise. Have they announced the full slate of GL events? I don't remember it being this early last year.

http://www.iaaf.org/news/Kind=512/newsId=23419.html

I guess that would answer my question.

Men
200m
800m
1500m
400m Hurdles
Triple Jump
Discus Throw

Women
100m
400m
1500m
3000m/5000m
100m Hurdles
High Jump

Interesting list. The men are pretty much unrepresented in the sprints and distances, but the women have a good distribution. They drop one uncompetitive event (women's 800m) in favor of an even more uncompetitive one (men's 400h)... And of course, the women's 400m re-enters the fray, a year too late for Team Run-Down. Rolling Eyes

___It makes my native Poles even more likely to make my virtual team. Plawgo and Januszewski tend to do well in the meets. However, at least Plawgo is unable to run the 400 m H well in a championship-level competition.

Don't forget, we also need a good scoring model for any selected events. That rules out many of the field events and hurdles/steeple, regardless of GL status.

___With suspensions being issued, my possible future choice of Urbas and Jedrusinski for my virtual track and field team becomes increasingly more realistic.

A lot of suspensions are needed before Urbas will be scoring any points. Wink

__That's a good one. Very Happy I agree, but he still should be able to pick--up a couple points. In addition, I agree, the cheap beer does not serve him well. It is not to say that he has a drinking problem.
___If he is going to get injured again, he probably will be forced to forget about track and field.
___Picking the Polish Duo may make sense, if Jedrusinski and Urbas will not get injured, Jedrusinski will keep on improving in what has become even--number years jumps in performance (PB's for 2000 and 2001, and 2002 and 2003 are respectively identical), and Urbas is going to run close to his second best 20.31s over 200 m.

__Marcin Nowak over 60 m, and Marcin Urbas, over 200 m began their indoor season running well in Luxembourg, in an indoor meeting. Nowak ran 60 m in 6.75 seconds, and Urbas ran 200 m in 20.97 seconds. It is too early to make a prediction. However, since 200 m is going to be removed from the world indoor championships, I can see Urbas winning one of the last medals. I can see, as well, Nowak make it to the final. Nowak has been recovering from an injury for a long time. He seems to have returned to the top shape from a couple years ago. Moreover, since a lot of the best athletes are missing from the indoor competition, Nowak's chances of making the final "on the skin of his teeth," or as the "sixth ma" seem to be realistic.

That's about as fast as I expect Urbas to run this season, but if it's an early season stepping stone, maybe he'll be upping the ante outdoor.
