i run 5 or more miles a day four days a week and i am taking a 10 day layoff ... i would like to know how easy i should start off when i come back to it next week.. |

Depends largely on why you took the time off. If it was to rehab an injury, then that is what will dicate how quickly you come back. If it was merely to rest an overtrained body at the end of a season, they you probably won't have to hold back very much (you don't lose any conditioning in that amount of time).

It can depend on how old you are, also. You are putting in 25 miles a week, plus or minus. You are used to a certain amount of pounding. Taking 10 full days off, you might want to let your body readjust to that, gradually, over a period of about a week. That's what I would have to do, but I am over 50, and that makes a difference. _________________ Paul
