If I'm not getting my names mixed up, I believe he's a New Jersey fellow that ran at UO -- marathon type, apparently quite a character.

I've seen his name in a few old races, but I don't recall any specifics. I've heard from several people that he was one of the wildest of a rather wild Eugene bunch.
I'm sure you could find out more about him at tnfmedia.com, specifically from Grote and malmo.
