Even for athletes the caliber of Webb I think every so often you need to get into a race even if you're not at your absolute best. Now you don't want to do it very often if your not at peak condition but a race like this is a barometer that you can't get in training. Although his time does explain why he wan't at the Milrose games. And of coarse if he's gearing to peak once for the US and World championships later this year then I suppose that a 1:52 doesn't spell the end of the world.

He seems like a genuinely nice guy, hard worker, and phenomenal talent, so it's hard but to wish for the best for him...

I haven't looked closely at the IAAF lists yet, but he may well be un-listed in the top 100 with last year's times. I'll go add his name to the "special" list in the Fantasy forum, thanks.

I did in fact mean the mile. If my correspondence seems to lack clarity it could be due to the amount of Bombay gin I mixed with the tonic this afternoon.

But it did seem to enhance the grilled salmon, sauteed crab cakes and ceasar salad.

I may now need a nap.
